Obituary of Emlyann Heselton
SCHUYLER – Mrs. Emlyann (Ingraham) Heselton, age 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went to be with her Savior on June 9, 2017, in the privacy and comfort of her home. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by her devoted family at her bedside, as her granddaughter, Heidi, sang “O My Soul” by Casting Crowns, to her.
She was born in Claremont, NH on March 3, 1932, a daughter of the late Ira and Faith (Padock) Ingraham. She attended Stevens High School in Claremont, graduating with the Class of 1950. She then attended the University of New Hampshire where she majored in the arts. Later in life, she received her Master’s Degree in Education and Counseling from Elmira College. After subbing in the Mohawk Valley school systems, Emlyann went to work for the Herkimer County Department of Social Services for five years.
A woman of many talents, Emlyann was an expert seamstress and taught sewing in continuing education. She taught her daughters to become expert seamstresses as well, and has many adopted daughter-friends whom she loved dearly.
In 1955, she fell for a sailor in uniform and on December 3, 1956, she was married to Mr. Leon Heselton in Charlestown, New Hampshire. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last December.
She is survived by her husband, Leon, at home, as well as her son, Todd Heselton, who performed her intense care during her time at home under Hospice, assisted by her daughter, Lee Ann Fahy of Honeoye Falls. Lee Ann has three sons and a daughter. Philip, Brady and Julianna live in the Rochester area, while Andrew lives in Finland with his wife, Jenny. Emlyann’s eldest daughter, EmmyLou Hock, lives in Buffalo with her husband, Jerrold; their four children and two-grandchildren also live in the area.
