Obituary of Marlyn B. Hecox

LITTLE FALLS – Marlyn B. Hecox, 86, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, passed away with her family at her side on Friday, November 16, 2018, at MVHS, St. Luke’s Healthcare, Town of New Hartford, NY.

Born December 24, 1931, in Little Falls, she was a daughter of the late George Brewer and Beatrice Considine. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School and went on to school to become a dental assistant. Her marriage to Bernard Ward Hecox took place July 12, 1952, at St. Mary’s Church in Little Falls and lasted nearly 58 years until his passing on March 3, 2010. She was employed as a dental assistant and office manager at the office of Dr. Joseph Steencken, in Little Falls where she started working in 1971 and retired in 2016. Marlyn was an avid reader and a long-time supporter of the Little Falls Library, as well as an active member of both the Daughters of the American Revolution and Holy Family Parish.  She loved her Italianate Architectural house on East Gansevoort Street and was very happy creating a beautiful home through her passion for décor.  She also enjoyed the Hecox camp in the Adirondacks.

She will be dearly missed by her beloved family, her children, Cynthia Wilson and her husband, Jerry, of Annandale, Virginia and Andrea Littlejohn and William Ginther, of Fairport, NY; her daughter-in-law, Kim Hecox, of Plattsburgh, NY; her sister, Nadine Marchese, of Little Falls; her grandchildren, Jessie Wilson, Meghan Hecox and Caitlyn Hecox; and her nephews, Gary and Sam Marchese.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sophia Hooks and her children, Gregory Hooks, Ellen Kraft, Susan Whitacre, Joan Hooks and Carol Bachman.

She was predeceased by her son, Bernard Scott Hecox on August 3, 2017. Additionally, she was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Sam Marchese and Leo Hooks.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 10:30 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls and at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish, corner of East Main and John Streets, Little Falls, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, from 5 until 7 PM at the funeral home.

Donations may be considered to either the Little Falls Library or the Holy Family Parish in memory of Marlyn Hecox. The family would like to thank St. Luke’s Hospital staff for their care.

Arrangements are in care of Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia (315) 823-2424. A memorial page in honor of Marlyn has been established at www.eneafamily.com on the Internet.
